Empowering Families Through Collaboration and Support

At Pan Cymru , we unite parents and professionals to enhance outcomes for families, focusing on those with experiences in the child protection system, fostering community well-being for future generations.

We are a community interest company made of parents with lived experience of children’s social work, and allied professionals, empowering parents going through the social services systems. Co-production is at the heart of everything we do.

The need for PAN Cymru

PAN Cymru is a social enterprise supporting families involved in the child protection system. Co-produced with parents and professionals, we understand how isolating and stigmatizing the system can be—especially for those facing poverty, trauma, or mental health challenges.

With a 79% rise in children entering care in Wales over 20 years, we champion Parent Peer Advocacy—parents supporting parents with professional backing. We offer Parent Cafés, training, and advocacy development to empower families, rebuild trust, and influence policy. Together, we’re creating a more compassionate, collaborative system that values lived experience and keeps families at the heart of decisions.

“I have visited a number of Parent Advocacy Groups across America and around the world and … your PAN group has developed quicker and more powerfully than any of the other groups I have seen”

"When parents advocate for themselves, the entire system improves for families."

‘'I am moved by PAN stories and …I am reminded that families are always best placed to know what they need and regardless of their circumstances, they are still mothers, fathers, grandparents, brother and sisters and should be at the centre of conversations and decisions made in respect of their children’'.

Quotes

“Sharing stories has been the most significant thing for me - building confidence, knowing there’s no judgment, and realising I’m not alone. I used to feel locked in, but now I feel part of something where everyone’s equal.”

“The confidence I have coming into PAN, from having no confidence beforehand, made me realise not everyone judges here. You can actually be yourself.”
